Research Interests

Seebany Datta-Barua researches the use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for remotely sensing the atmosphere and Earth's surface, tomography and data assimilation for ionospheric and thermospheric prediction of dynamics, and in mitigating upper atmospheric effects on GPS-based navigation systems.

  • Lagrangian coherent structures in the ionosphere and thermosphere
  • Auroral E and F region irregularities with a GPS scintillation array
  • GNSS reflectometry for surface ice monitoring
  • Ionospheric data assimilation and analysis of geomagnetic storms
  • Atmospheric effects on GPS-based navigation
